Roosevelt High School Class of 1963
Minneapolis, Minnesota

It was a fun night Aug. 9. And very interesting.

We hadn’t anticipated sharing the Hilton mezzanine level on reunion night with a large assembly of transvestites. They were partying in the ballroom next door. As luck would have it, the Class of ’63 was the only group displaying signs for our event.

As the wife of one of our classmates walked out of the ladies’ room above the hotel lobby, she encountered a Hilton guest who told her, “You sure have some strange classmates!”

Well, men sporting beards and evening gowns notwithstanding, we had a great evening for our 40-year reunion Aug. 9. It was a time to reminisce as well as to catch up with what’s happened in the past four decades. Some of us have changed a lot, while others are still easily recognizable despite the years.

The attendance was 182 persons including guests, which means we had to do without the majority of our grads. But many attendees couldn’t get enough of it just the same, because they arrived before the announced 6 p.m. check-in and stayed past the midnight closing.

Class president Jeff Felt and emcee John Edmunds presided at the evening’s program. Yet the time was mainly given over to good food provided by the Hilton Minneapolis Airport staff—and even better conversation. Acquaintances were renewed and laughs were shared.

All of which had a few classmates already asking about 2008 and a 45-year reunion. It’s a nice thought, isn’t it?
